Vence – A Town of Prophets and Painters

Separated by nearly 300 years many would be forgiven into thinking Nostradamus and Matisse would have little in common. However they would be wrong as the picturesque, hilltop town of Vence, on the French Riviera, would leave huge impressions on both Frenchman’s lives.

Whilst some of Nostradamus’s prophecies are subject to criticism, his remarks on Vence have stood the test of time and remain un-refuted till this day.

Perched atop a hill just a few miles from Cagnes-sur-Mer lies Vence, a town very popular with those looking to relocate and purchase South of France real estate. A stunning stained glass window bathes the congregation in a warm light of yellow, blue and green whilst the unique architecture of the chapel that has the alter placed at an angle in the corner of the L shaped building is inspired in its simplicity and individuality.
